April's numbers
July 15, 2009
I just received April's P&L from my bookkeeper. We lost a fair amount, but there's a really good reason. We were sewing product for a May release. Lots of buying, sewing, paying labor but no sales. All the profit is hidden in May's numbers! So far, as of the end of June, we're up from last year and doing well. I'm very pleased with how our year is progressing despite the economy.

May
May 13, 2009
May...going well so far. The two new stores have both had sales. I need to work on marketing those. One had been going out of business for a couple of months, so most of the regular customers have already found new stores to shop at. The other never had much web presence because most of her customers were local, so I'm mostly starting from scratch on SEO and marketing. Our new product is set to launch soon. Everything is falling into place. Of course it's slower than I'd like, but it's coming along. So far the month is going well sales-wise. My goals for the rest of May:1. launch the new product (package it, ship it)2. set up marketing for the new stores (Adwords, banner ads)3. Restock current inventory4. Take a BREAK! I'm worn out and my family needs me to spend a few days with just them. I'm thinking somewhere out of town, preferably with an ocean view. :)

Finishing April
May 1, 2009
--Bought 2 established online retail stores, 1 is open under our company and the other goes live May 1;--working toward launch of new product in May;--ended 5% up over last April;--total increase for the year is 25% All in all, I'm feeling extraordinarily thankful. We are very blessed to be where we are right now.

Wow, what a busy month
April 28, 2009
April has been a truly busy month. Sales-wise it's been fine. Nothing spectacular, but we should beat last year's numbers. Growth-wise, it's been insane. We added TWO new retail stores and we're launching our new product in 2 weeks. We were nearly finished sewing our first run of our new product when I surveyed retailers as to possible demand. 1/3 of my retailers responded and if they buy what they estimated, we'll oversell by more than twice what we've sewn. And that's just the 3rd that answered. So I've ordered as much fabric as I can afford and the sewers are full-time sewing everything they can. I estimated high demand for this product, but nothing like the survey indicates. I hope it's as big as the survey showed because we'll be well on our way to meeting our goals for the year!As for the retail stores, one of them is online already and is doing nicely. The other goes online next week. I think I'm crazy to launch two new stores (well, they're established but I just bought them and relaunched them) in the same month as a new product. Sorry I am missing the event today, but I had my hands full!

I won airfare!
April 7, 2009
I won airfare to the M3 event April 27!! I still don't know if I'll get to go, depends on hotel and how easy it is to get where I need to be. I've never been to NYC before so have no idea how to get from one place to another. However, I really want to go and I've been looking at airfare for the past few days. Then today, I get the email. I fly for free! My hubby's all for it and it's just for three days (two nights) so that's no problem.
