The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is a dues-based national membership organization representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs across all industries. It has more than 9,000 members and 80 chapters.

  • Businesses range in size from sole proprietorship to hundreds of employees
  • Members hail from every business industry, from construction and importers, to retailers and service providers
  • Members represent all areas of the country


Membership is open to sole proprietors, partners, and corporate owners with day-to-day management responsibility.

In 2007, NAWBO conducted a survey of 650 women business owners in 35 states. Among its many findings, the survey indicates that well over half of the respondents listed "more flexibility" as their number one reason for starting their business.
