2. Telemarketing - Benefits of Telemarketing Services

Outsourcing telemarketing services allows you to reach more customers and provide better service than your own employees might be capable of.  For example, an inbound telemarketing service allows you to take and process orders at all times of day- not just during business hours.  A helpdesk that’s open 24 hours a day is very valuable to customers.  Telemarketing companies have the extended hours, language, and staff capacity that most small businesses just can’t match.

It’s also far cheaper to hire a telemarketing company for lower-skilled or seasonal positions, such as verifying business leads.  By hiring a professional, you’ll save on training and staff costs, and ensure that your efforts are successful.  Here are a few more benefits of using a telemarketing company:

Regulations: Different state, federal, and international laws regulate phone solicitation.  Trying to comply with all of these regulations on your own can be difficult- new laws are passed and old ones expire with high frequency.  Telemarketing companies maintain compliance, researching new regulations and adjusting practices, so you don’t have to.

Testing Ability: Telemarketing companies are able to rely on past experience and customer tests to craft the most effective phone script.

Staff: Most small businesses can’t afford to hire the kind of staff necessary to offer a 24-hour helpdesk for customer service, or make calls in several different time zones and languages.  Telemarketing companies staff hundreds to thousands of representatives, so calls can be made faster.  Telemarketing is also great for seasonal work or promotions- companies can be hired for a short time, eliminating the need to hire or train employees for temporary assignments.

There are definitely some drawbacks to outsourcing, though.  By allowing a third party to communicate with customers, you might have less control over your sales process and brand image.  You can minimize the impact by training the telephone representatives yourself, or by opting for “dedicated representatives,” workers that only answer or place calls for your company.  Overall, telemarketing is best for those businesses with slim resources when it comes to employees, operation hours, or language capabilities.  A telemarketing firm is able to do work on your behalf for minimal cost- a win-win situation all around.
