The 2009 Make Mine a Million $ Business RACE reached from both coasts, touched every industry and included women of all colors. Set during the greatest economic downturn in nearly a century, over 1,500 entrepreneurs participated. Racers set and beat their goals, as they hired staff, increased their revenues and grew their businesses to win the $100,000 grand prize! After the yearlong RACE ended, a winner was declared at the American Express OPEN Women Business Summit in Houston, TX. Having grown her business by 131%, created sustainable, full time employment for 21 people, Nell presented Sarah Stevens of Stevens Technologies, the $100,000 check on the stage of a crowded auditorium.
